{"id":1596,"date":"2022-02-03T20:36:21","date_gmt":"2022-02-03T11:36:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/myendof.life\/?p=1291"},"modified":"2022-02-03T20:36:21","modified_gmt":"2022-02-03T11:36:21","slug":"need-to-get-away-from-the-cloud-system","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mychigasaki.com\/?p=1596","title":{"rendered":"Need to get away from the cloud system"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whether you like it or not, GAFAM or now, GAMAM is the mainstream.<br>But there are other simple to use cloud data storage such as Dropbox, Evernote, Mediuim, Notion, and many more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/myendoflife.files.wordpress.com\/2022\/02\/e382b9e382afe383aae383bce383b3e382b7e383a7e38383e38388-2022-02-03-14.10.11.png?w=640\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1299\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem of these are that data cannot be interchangeable. <br>I&#8217;ve had problems exporting my Evernote data to OneNote and vice versa for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, I just realized that even though I rewnewed my Evernote, the app told me that I need to renew (up grade).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Well, I verified my account and the renewal was supposed to be on Feb. 6th but when I upgraded, Evernote deducted several days off my renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"now-that-s-a-fraud\">Now, that&#8217;s a fraud.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I contacted the support but there was nothing he could do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I decided to cancel my new &#8220;Personal&#8221; plan and get my &#8220;Premium&#8221; setting back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was able to do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He just canceled my account and refunded me (but I&#8217;m back to square one with &#8220;Free&#8221; account.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"now-that-s-another-fraud\">Now that&#8217;s another fraud.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/myendoflife.files.wordpress.com\/2022\/02\/20220203-pissed-off-at-evernote.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What pissed me off was that there was a very big price hike from 4000 yen\/year to 5800 yen\/year.<br>Let&#8217;s say, a ball park figure of $40 to $58, which is 145% price hike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/myendoflife.files.wordpress.com\/2022\/02\/e382b9e382afe383aae383bce383b3e382b7e383a7e38383e38388-2022-02-01-15.58.41.png?w=1024&#038;resize=518%2C349\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1297\" width=\"518\" height=\"349\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So, I decided to wait until after the 6th, but this makes my work miserable for not being able to access from many of my machines (only2 machines per free plan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile chatting with Evernote, I decided to see if I can transfer my notes to OneNote, which is another disaster system that sucks in many ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The app crashed while I was synching with my OneNote and I couldn&#8217;t do anything about it.<br>I had to redo everything but since there were stored data from the first session, the app would not work properly. Damn Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While I&#8217;m trying to recover, I get a notice from Evernote when I log in from web page telling me that I can have a 25% discount if I upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/myendoflife.files.wordpress.com\/2022\/02\/e382b9e382afe383aae383bce383b3e382b7e383a7e38383e38388-2022-02-03-15.28.10.png?w=672&#038;resize=304%2C463\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1301\" width=\"304\" height=\"463\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"third-fraud-a-double-standard-pricing\">Third fraud, a double standard pricing.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have one year of time to stop using Evernote from today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Whether you
